First use or after a long period of non-use

Clean internal part of coffee machine
Remove the water tank.

Fill fresh water to maximum level

Note:
Drinking water at room temperature: non-hot water/drinkable.

Put water tank back to machine and power ON.

To start machine with one of three buttons:
-Indicator lights blink 25 seconds for heating
-Indicator lights steady: machine is ready

Rinse: put a container under coffee outlet, and press Lungo button, repeat with three times.

Note:
Machines are fully tested after being produced. Some traces of coffee powder could be found in rinsing water.
Clean the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S)
Remove the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) from coffee machine.

Remove the milk lid by pressing the button beside the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S), and remove the milk tube.

Remove the milk spout.

Remove the connector.

Soak all components in with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F) together with mild / soft detergent for at least 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F).

Clean every component completely with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F). Do not user cleaning agent with strong taste.

Dry all parts with a fresh and clean towel, cloth or paper and reassemble.
Water hardness setting
Take water hardness sticker placed on the first page of the UM and place it under water for 1 second.

The number of red squares indicates the water hardness level.

Switch the machine ON and remove Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S).

Press the milk button for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: descaling and clean alerts start blinking.

Press the Espresso button.

Now, within 15 sec, you can set the desired value by pressing the corresponding button. They blink 3 times rapidly to confirm new value. The menu exits automatically and machine returns to ready mode.

Daily operation

Coffee preparation
Lift the lever completely, insert the capsule, close the lever.

Afterwards, place a cup under
the coffee outlet.

Press the button to start machine, please press the button again if you want to stop it during coffee preparation.

Finish coffee preparation.

Lift and close the lever to eject the capsule into the used capsule container.
Preparing Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato
Fill the milk container up to one of the two levels indicators(Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato).

Note:

The milk system has not been designed to work with vegetale milk.

For a perfect milk froth, use cow milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4°C).

The Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) does not work with water.

All the milk will be used for milk.

Install the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) with filled milk to coffee machine.

Lift the lever and insert capsule.

Place a cup and adjust position of milk spout.

Press the milk button, the preparation starts after a few seconds (first milk and then coffee) and will stop automatically.

Note:
all milk will be used for the drink.

Finish preparing Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato.

Note:
please clean the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) every time after use milk recipe.
clean the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S)
Cleaning light will blink with orange after the preparation of Cappuccino, which means the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) need to be cleaned.

Remove the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) from coffee machine.

Remove the milk lid by pressing the button beside Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S), and remove milk tube.

Remove the milk spout.

Remove the connector.

Soak all components in with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F) together with mild / soft detergent for at least 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F).

Clean residual milk with hot potable water (40°C / 104°F). Do not use cleaning agent with strong taste.

Dry all parts with a fresh and clean towel, cloth or paper and reassemble.

Use a clean damp cloth to clean coffee machine’s outlet and surface.

Maintenance

Restore to factory settings

Reset all the parameters
Switch the machine ON and remove the Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S).

Press the milk button for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: descaling and clean alert start blinking.

Press the milk button. The milk button blinks to indicate reset mode. Press it to confirm. All buttons blink 3 times: all volumes are reset. The menu exits automatically and machine returns to ready mode.
Descaling

Alert “DESCALING” or refer to troubleshooting
Descale the machine when descaling alert shines orange in ready mode.

Lift and close the lever to eject any capsules in the used capsule container.

Empty the drip tray and the used capsules container. Fill the water tank with 100 ml of Nespresso descaling agent and 500 ml water.

Note:
CAUTION: the descaling solution can be harmful. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and surfaces. The use of any unsuitable descaling agent may lead to machine component damage or an insufficient descaling process. For any additional questions you may have regarding descaling, please contact Nespresso.

Take the descaling pipe situated at the back of the machine and plug the descaling pipe into steam connector of machine.

The machine enters the descaling mode. The descaling alert blinks orange during the entire descaling process. The Espresso button illuminates white.

Place a container with a minimum 1 litre capacity under both the coffee outlet and the descaling pipe nozzle.

Press the Espresso button. Descaling product flows alternately through the coffee outlet, descaling pipe and drip tray. When the descaling cycle is finished (water tank runs empty), the Espresso button shines.

Empty the used capsules container, drip tray recipient and container, rinse out and fill the water tank with fresh potable water up to level MAX.

Press the Espresso button again. The rinsing cycle continues through the coffee outlet, descaling pipe and drip tray until the water tank turns empty.

Once the rinsing process is finished, the machine switches off. Remove and store descaling pipe. Empty drip tray and used capsules container. Fill water tank with potable water.

Clean the machine using a damp cloth. You have now finished descaling the machine.
Programming coffee quantity

Set your desired coffee quantity
Lift the lever and insert the capsule, close the lever.

Put a cup under coffee outlet afterwards.

Touch and hold Espresso or Lungo button for at least 3 sec to enter the programming mode. Brewing starts and button blinks fast.

Release button when desired volume is reached. Coffee volume is now stored for the next coffee preparations. Button blinks 3 times to confirm the new coffee volume.
Pressure relief

No water comes out from machine because of air inside
Fill fresh water into water tank until 2/3 level.

Switch the power ON and place a cup under coffee outlet.

Switch the machine ON, it will start heating automatically (about 25 seconds), and it will finish heating when button light stop blink.

Lift the lever completely.

Press the Lungo button once, and check whether water comes out

If water comes out, please close the lever and let it go to the container. If no water comes out, pressure relief by machine is not successful, and repeat above procedures. (Note: It only allow maximum 5 times for the operation, and it need take 20 minutes rest for heat radiation afterwards. If still not work, please contact Nespresso)

Note:
If follow above instruction and failed, please contact Nespresso for further support (note: it need additional pressure relief tool).

Fill fresh water into pressure relief tool.

Remove the water tank and connect the pressure tool with machine.

Switch the machine ON, and put a container under coffee outlet.

Press any button and it will start heating automatically (about 25 seconds).

Lift the lever completely.

Press the Lungo button once, and check whether water comes out.

If water comes out, please close the lever and let it go to the container. If no water comes out, pressure relief manually is not successful, and repeat above procedures. (Note: It only allow maximum 5 times for the operation, and it needs take 20 minutes rest for heat radiation afterwards. If still not work, please contact Nespresso).
Empty the system

After a long period of non-use or before machine send to repair
Switch ON machine and remove Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S).

Remove the water tank, lift and close the lever to eject used capsule. Place a container under coffee outlet.

Press the milk buttons for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: the descaling and clean alerts start blinking.

Note:
The Menu mode exits automatically after 30 seconds if no actions are performed. It can be exit manually by pressing the milk button for 3 seconds.

Press milk and Lungo buttons simultaneously.

The milk button blinks for confirmation. Once pressed, the emptying starts. The coffee buttons blink alternately: emptying mode in progress. When the process is finished, the machine switches off automatically.

Note:
appliance will be blocked for approximately 10 minutes after emptying.
Automatic power off

Set automatic shutdown time
Switch ON machine and remove Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S).

Press the milk buttons for 3 seconds to enter Menu mode: the descaling and clean alerts start blinking.

Note:
The Menu mode exits automatically after 30 seconds if no actions are performed. It can be exit manually by pressing the milk button for 3 seconds.

Press Lungo button.

Now, within 15 seconds, you can set the desired value by pressing the corresponding button. They blinks 3 times rapidly to confirm new value. The menu exits automatically and machine returns to ready mode.

Troubleshooting

Quality of milk froth is not up to standard
- use cow milk at refrigerator temperature (about 4°C).
- Please clean your Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) every time after milk recipe (please refer to “hand wash of Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S)”).
- Please descale the machine.
- Please do not use frozen milk.
- Make sure air-inlet part cleaned.
No button indicator, machine fail to power ON

Check main power, power cord, voltage and fuse. If still have this issue, please contact Nespresso.
No coffee or water comes out
- Check the water tank, please fill water into it if not enough water.
- Need to release pressure if a long period of non-use or new machine.
- Please descale the machine if necessary.
Cup quantity not normal, less or more.
- Reset to factory setting.
- Reset cup quantity if you did it before.
- Please descale the machine if necessary.
The coffee flow rate is very slow or intermittent
- Related with different type of capsule(more strong taste, less coffee flow rate).
- Machine enter to DESCALING mode.
- Voltage not stable.
- Water inlet filter deformed or blocked because of hot water.
- Repeat brewing with same capsule which maybe cause coffee outlet blocked.
Coffee is not hot or abnormal temperature
- Make sure machine not enter to DESCALING mode.
- Ambient temperature is low (please warm up the cup first)
- Please descale the machine if necessary.
Water goes to the capsule container
- Make sure to use Nespresso capsule and the appearance not deformed.
- Please insert capsule into correct position. If still have this issue, please contact Nespresso.
The indicator blinks irregularly
1. NTC or TCO problem
- Please contact Nespresso.
2. CLEANING and DESCALING alert blink
- Machine in Menu mode. The Menu mode exits automatically after 30 sec if no actions are performed. It can be exit manually by pressing the milk button for 3 seconds.
3. DESCALING alert blink orange
- Please descale the machine if it reach alert level of decaling mode.
4. DESCALING alert blink orange and Espresso indicator blink white
- Machine in DESCALING mode, please press Espresso button to start process of descaling.
5. CLEANING alert blink orange
- Please remove Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) and cleaned by dishwasher. If no dishwasher, please refer to “hand wash of cleaning Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S)”.
6. All coffee & milk button blink alternately
- Over heated for machine, please cool down the machine first.
- appliance will be blocked for approximately 10 minutes after emptying.
Lever can not closed completely
- Empty the capsule container. Make sure no blocked capsule inside.
Can not enter Menu mode
- Make sure Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S) has been removed.
- Make sure press the milk button at least 3 seconds
- Please remove descaling tube.
Milk system not work
- At least 30ml milk filled into milk tank.
- Not work if milk tank filled with water.
- The milk system has not been designed to work with vegetale milk (rice, etc).
Can not remove Rapid Cappuccino System(R.C.S)
- Press the button on the side of the milk jug to remove the parts.
- Refer to section “Assembling / Disassembling of Rapid Cappuccino System”.
Noise when machine is working
- Make sure the machine is placed on a flat surface(If placed on a partition or a very thin surface, it will cause resonance and produce a lot of abnormal noise).
Switch off machine
- Press Espresso and Lungo button for 2 seconds.
